What is Compostable?

Composting is the process of breaking down organic waste by microbial digestion to create compost. Compostable means that a product can break down into carbon dioxide, water, inorganic compounds and biomass in small pieces in about 90 days. Compost can fertilize and improve soil health.

Compostable Materials

Compostable materials are derived from renewable materials like corn, potato, and tapioca starches, cellulose, soy protein, and lactic acid. Compostable materials are materials that have been certified to break down completely into non-toxic components including water, carbon dioxide, and biomass.
